Session title: Competency-Based Medical Education: The Path Forward
John Co, MD, MPH, MBA, FAAP, is Chief Education and Research Officer at the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), appointed in 2026, where he serves on the Executive Leadership Team and leads the organization’s integrated education and research strategy. He brings more than 20 years of leadership in medical education and healthcare, previously serving as vice president of Education and designated institutional official at Mass General Brigham, and currently as an associate professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and a general pediatrician at Massachusetts General Hospital. An established leader in medical education research, Dr. Co has led numerous federally and foundation-funded initiatives and previously served on the ACGME Board of Directors and as editor-in-chief of Pediatrics Open Science. He earned his BA from Cornell University, MD from Stanford University School of Medicine, MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health, and MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.
